Dior DiorShow Mascara

Diorshow Guest contributor Helena Handbasket continues her series: The Mascara Trials of Helena Handbasket...

Dior DiorShow Mascara

BRUSH--Ludicrously large pinecone-shaped spiral. Will definitely tax ladies with small, deep-set, or Asian eyes. Unless you're a Macy's parade balloon, it's just too big.

FORMULA--Creamy, not excessively wet. Rosewater scent.

APPLICATION--Tricky, due to the outsized brush. Smudged on upper eyelid.

LOOK --Lush, thick and long.

WEAR--Reasonably long. No flaking unless you over-apply.

PACKAGING--Blue cylindrical tube with silver printing.

Strawberry Leaves Forever: Miss Dior Cherie

Missdiorcheriewomen2t I spent the last six years of my life living next door to a strawberry field, so I know that the real thing has more to do with the wafting of soil fumigants Metam Sodium and Methyl Bromide than anything you'd want to dab behind your ears, but today in the mall I got spritzed with the new Miss Dior Cherie, whose signature note is strawberry leaves.  Wonderful stuff, with an elegant dry-down--it has the lusciousness of fruit without the fruitiness, if that makes any sense.  This is what girls who wore Bonne Bell Lipsmackers in the sixth grade should wear to the opera in their fifties and sixties.

About

  • What do you get when you throw a true beauty obsessive in Europe together with a veteran beauty journalist in LA? Not much room on the bathroom shelves, that's for sure. Make-up, hair products, skincare, perfume, salons, spas, luxury hotels with toiletries and treatments that make us never want to go home - if we've left anything out, you can pry our mirrors from our cold, dead, perfectly manicured hands.
