And now for something completely different: Macro-Dermabrasion
Jackie and I had our nails done yesterday, and I was both amused and stunned to see the nail artist whip out a Dremel to grind the callouses off of my feet. I have owned a Dremel before, but always used mine for teak and fiberglass detailing while refinishing sailboats. The tool's use as a cosmetic implement was new to me. What's next, the chainsaw weight loss program? Yikes!
Actually, the Dremel worked brilliantly and felt great, too. And this does appear to be a done thing at nail salons, with a special set of attachments available for grooming purposes.

I also use it to trim my dog's toenails!

I would not have thought to use my Dremel on my feet, but I am inspired. I'm so tired of getting a pedicure and having the technician tsk-tsk me as she shaves the calluses off. Now I can do my own in advance--sort of like cleaning up before the housecleaner arrives.

I am originally from Russia and I remember this has been in use at nail salons for at least 6 years now. Really surprising that's it's coming here so many years later.
