I don't know about you, but I get very bored with most products very quickly. I like to mix things up, and wearing the same stuff even three days in a row can seem like a massive rut.
This is how I was feeling about my go-to eyeliner, a black pencil from Rimmel. So you can imagine my delight when a package which included sample liners from MAC appeared on my doorstep.
My biggest beef with most eyeliners - pencil or otherwise - is that they just don't stay put. Even with my trusty Laura Mercier Foundation Primer in place, the stuff still slides off eventually. I've grown to accept this.
So now it's all about the color for me, and going for more rich and varied tones. At this moment, I am absolutely besotted with MAC Kohl in Orpheus, which the company describes as an "intense black with gold pearl (frost)". This description seems woefully inadequate - and inaccurate - to me. On my lids, it looks like a goldish brown with great depth and an almost green glint to it, depending on how the light catches. It's a perfect pencil for fall, but too nice to wait to use.
Orpheus is one of the shades in MAC's Smoke Signals collection, where the emphasis is on "the beauty, craft, and subtle unfiltered sizzle of the modern bombshell". I have a hard time applying that label to myself, but the products are a lot of fun.

i love eyeliner but it does tend to slide, sometimes even weep! ... i have had very good luck with make up forever waterproof eye pencils and cover girl outlast automatic pencils

Liquid eyeliner is better for staying in place. Bit of a nightmare to put on though, and not many colours.

I have to send in a plug for ModelCo magic water.
A cute set of magic water, a brush and a tiny ceramic dish. you wet the brush with the magic water swirl brush in ANY eyeshadow, blend in dish and brush on as eyeliner. This brush makes liquid lining really easy for some reason, and it stays put all day. I love it

I absolutely stand by Revlon Colorstay eyeliner. It stays on all day for me and I never have to touch it up. I do use other brands, however, and I have found that a bit of foundation and powder on my eyelids helps keep my eyeliner, and shadow, in place all day long. (Helps to keep shadow from creasing too.)

Have you tried Bobbi Brown's Long Wearing Gel Eyeliner? I use it all the time and it doesn't smudge. Love it!
