Beauties: Carolyn Tyler

I met jewelery designer Carolyn Tyler briefly a few months ago in Santa Barbara, but it wasn't until I visited her website that I learned her story: She moved to Bali in the 1980s, where she works with craftspeople descended from the jewelers to Javanese royalty to produce one-of-a-kind ornaments.

Carolyn reminds me of a 19th century adventuress, and her jewelry designs seem like thinbgs gods and goddesses from other planets would wear....
