I should read the generic emails sent to me by PRs more carefully. There are some real howlers in there. Just from today's batch of mail, there are these two gems, from two different PR companies:
[Product X] is a proprietary blend of ingredients from earth, air and water...
Wow, I'm only used to open source blends of ingredients from the moon! Please, though, can we cut the meaningless PR-speak? It might sound big and clever to your client, but it's just insulting to those you're trying to pitch.
Based on Pulitzer Prize winning technology, this chirally correct line of skincare contains the highest concentrations of effective, active ingredients.
This publicist is either a liar or utterly incompetent - or, if the past form of this sleazy PR company is anything to go on, both.
