Uma Thurman's Louis Vuitton ads

Umalv2 I find the heavy-handed airbrushing here quite oddly appealing, almost as if I am looking at some exquisite alien creature. (I got the same pleasure from the Lindsay Lohan Miu Miu ads.) I think Uma is still beautiful, though she does not look like this. (If you've seen her recent TV ads for Virgin in the UK, you may share with me a sense of puzzlement over why on earth they didn't even bother to hide the huge bags under her eyes. Surely Branson could spare the coin, after paying Uma to shill for them, to make her look good. Go to the truly horrible Virgin Media site to watch the ads if you want to see what I mean - I'd give you a direct link, but Virgin has made it impossible to do so. Way to spread the word about your offering, guys.)

I agree with Michael K - who has more shots from this campaign - about the purses, too. Who the hell wants to carry the same boring bag that's coveted by mall rats in Hicksville, USA - not to mention the likes of Paris and Jessica?

Correction: The LV adds featuring Uma Thurman as pictured above are actually from a 2005 campaign. Source: http://jozworld.club.fr/louis-vuitton.html

I thought they looked familiar, but they're still hot!

About

  • What do you get when you throw a true beauty obsessive in Europe together with a veteran beauty journalist in LA? Not much room on the bathroom shelves, that's for sure. Make-up, hair products, skincare, perfume, salons, spas, luxury hotels with toiletries and treatments that make us never want to go home - if we've left anything out, you can pry our mirrors from our cold, dead, perfectly manicured hands.
