Max Factor Lash Perfection Mascara and L'Oreal Volume Shocking Mascara

LashperfectionI spotted this Max Factor Lash Perfection Mascara at Duane Reed in New York, and was instantly taken with the fine, yellow-tipped brush of the applicator wand. (Lash Perfection is packaged with the mascara tube sealed and the wand visible for inspection. Fantastic idea.) I was very pleased with how this deposits just the right amount of mascara onto the brush for a thorough, not overdone layer - no clumping or mess. This is great if you're going for a more natural look, or prefer to build up to a less natural style, rather than wiping a ton of product off the wand or struggling to fight the spidery-eyed look.

As for L'Oreal Volume Shocking, which I bought on the recommendation of a couple of commenters here...Well, all I can say is, that's £10 down the drain. This stuff just doesn't do it for me, since by 'it' I do not mean 'making my lashes stick together and somehow end up looking stubbier than they actually are'. I've given it a few tries, and there's just no saving it. "SUPER CLUMPY," indeed.

On my way through duty-free when I arrived back in London, I picked up a tube of my old stand-by, Lancome Définicils. When I don't want an especially spare look, that's one I at least know how to manage well.

All in all, it's enough to make a girl seriously contemplate lash extensions or lash lifting.

i totally agree on Lancome Definicils. i have a drawer-full of mascaras, and they all disappoint. except Lancome. because i seem to regularly have sample mascaras, and have delveloped a phobia about "buying" mascara, i use the others, but am always disappointed. i'm trying the VolumeExact that's the rage right now, but it's no Lancome.

Totally agree with you about Definicils - they even have a new different shaped brush which I'm looking forward to try.

I use Definicils too. While it's the best I've found, it's not perfect. I don't know if perfect exists.

The Max Factor brush sounds very similar to that of Cover Girl's Lash Exact (http://tinyurl.com/ylehql). Lash Exact does a GREAT job of defining lashes without clumping. My only (minor) complaint is that I wish it darkened my lashes more, a problem I am hoping can be easily remedied by buying Very Black instead of Black next time.

Max Factor's brush is also a dead ringer for the new Chanel Inimitable. Quite a bit cheaper too, but it lacks the dead chic Chanel packaging if that's important to you.

I love Lancome Definicils - it's been the best mascara I've used, and I've tried a bunch.

I'm also a big fan of Max Factor 2000 Calorie mascara - don't know if they make it anymore. If their Lash Perfection is anything like their 2000 Calorie, I'm sure I'll love it.

My holy grail mascara is now the Urban Decay Big Fatty Lashes that Hillary recommended here a bit ago. It creates volume with minimal clumping. My best drugstore brand is Maybelline Full and Soft, which I've been faithful to for years now.

See, I tried Max Factor 2000 Calorie years ago and hated it. I found it very sticky - my lashes had no hope of separating with that stuff.

I too was disappointed in L'Oreal Volume Shocking. I had read some good comments about it but they didn't hold true for me. It deposited major clumps and I had to use one of those small eyelash combs to remove them.

I've been loyal to Lancome for the past six years, and can't find anything to make me change my mind. One coat is enough to give me a 'false eyelashes' look, but two coats is way too clumpy.

Plus, Lancome always sell their mascaras in packs of two or three in Duty Free, so you can stop up cheap.

Definicils was the first mascara I ever tried when I was fifteen years old. For 10 years, it's been a beauty staple. I recently diverted and tried L'Extreme. I was so disappointed that I wrote to Lancome and they sent me a Definicils for free.

That was very smart of them, Twiglet!

I'm wearing the Max Factor Lash Perfection again - it's growing on me more and more.

I took Jackie's recommendations and went looking for Max Factor Lash Perfection in London. It's obviously a US product and I had to settle for Max Factor More Lash. I haven't used a mascara before, so let's see what happens. So far so good but I have been going very easy on it.

I avoid using mascara as because I saw that whenever I put it on my lashes, it becomes a mess. I don’t know the exact amount to put it on my lash, so I prefer to stay away from it.

I confess I was one of the commentors who recommended L'Oreal Shocking. I have to say I love that mascara, and will compare all future purchases to it (you can check it out on my blog, link below), but it is incredibly hard to apply. If you use the wand very slowly as you apply the dark coat, it will help somewhat. I have to use a metal eyelash comb after application to get rid of residual clumps. But, the end result is well worth it! The lashes I get are full, long and look almost fake they are so great!

I am surprised - interesting comments http://boyspanking.iespana.es/
