Pink redux, and the mysterious success of Bath & Body Works

Img_1928Further to Hill's post about pink, here's what I spotted in London's Fenwick department store yesterday, right under a sign proclaiming "PROM DRESSES". Indeed they are. But as far as I know, they don't have proms in the UK. I can only hope that prom dresses are the hot new thing to wear for females who aren't hormonal teens.

As for the pink eye shadow Hill mentioned, it jogged my memory that I, too, own some. It is from - of all places - Bath & Body Works.  I can't even find makeup on the Bath & Body Works site, which tells me how old that eyeshadow must be. (I have a taupe shade from B&BW, too, which is excellent.) I guess I should throw it away, since a) it looks awful on me, and b) it could give me an eye infection if I ever did wear it. But...no. Throwing away makeup is not something I am emotionally equipped to do.

And to go off on yet another tangent: What is the point of Bath & Body Works? All of the scents are knock-you-out and overly cloying; even as a 13-year-old, I could only tolerate my Juniper Berry and Sun Ripened Raspberry body sprays for a few days after purchasing them. Or maybe I'm just being snobby; when a store opens an outlet in my teeny, rural hometown in Ohio, as B&BW did a few years ago, I figure there is no reason to ever consider shopping there again.

That said, the addition of C.O. Bigelow products to their inventory might just lure me back into a Bath & Body Works store someday. But if you want to get your Bigelow stuff online, don't bother using the B&BW website, which only allows you to "browse online, shop in-store," as they put it. Luckily, you can purchase direct from the Bigelow apothecary's online shop - which offers free UPS ground shipping for all internet orders over $60.

Ok, so not sure this is the place since you focus on the products and curious if you focus at all on the customer service..and get your opinion as you were vocal on the Bath&BodyWorks product line..here's an example of where I really wanted the product! .. a Small Shearling Bag (Style #63826) in a local store. These bags were sold separately for $14. I went back a few days later and only 'white' was left, but the beige bag was on display as a package gift (other items now inside) at a higher price. The manager refused to separate the package (although the bags were identical other then color). I contacted the website to purchase but these bags are not available (although the gift sets are). I asked for just the bag..and the customer service resolution was to provide me with phone #'s of other local BBW to purchase the item as opposed to shipping to me directly. I'm still trying to get the $14 bag...once again, sorry if this isn't the right blog..thanks, Lynn

You know you can shop online now at Bathandbodyworks.com and get your favorite bath stuff, including COBigelow. They don't have make-up, but they do have a lot of cool skin care products that most of the stores don't have.

Have you tried any of the Bath & Body Works new line called "BREATHE"? I absolutely love it, and I don't shop there for their fragrances, usually. My favorites from that line is Romance and Calm. But what would I know, I live out here in rual Ohio. Wouldn't want to waste anymore time blogging with a SNOB. Good way to turn a new blogger off--sorry to have bothered you. I'll stick with BLOGDORF, she's from Youngstown Ohio, which by the way, is a rual Ohio town. Bye!

Uh, okaaaay...

Bath and Body works has some great scent but they are so over powering and i find that the lotion dosen't keep my skin from drying out i have to keep applying it. So i started looking aroung and found this Line out of new zealand called apicare and it has tons of different scents and i love it but it is so expensive to ship.but if anyone finds it in the US let me know!

Hi, was just doing a google on the place I work for - as you do- and came across a query on this site about the availability of our products in the U.S. We have just appointed Vashon Organics as our North American distributor so freight will be heaps better now within the States rather than having to come all the way from New Zealand. Their web address is www.vashonorganics.com. Hope this is helpful for Desiree. Cheers Justine.
