Pink! It's the new... pink.
I can't seem to let go of the pink thing, even though I realize it's now overdone and probably tedious. Why can't pink be the new pink, instead of always having to be the new navy/black/white or whatever? I feel pink to be a quintessential color that should be fad-exempt. Or do I feel this way because I just bought yet another pink skirt?
If you pick up a copy of the May issue of Real Simple, you can see a picture of my hot pink suede boots, brilliantly photographed by the delightful Brown Cannon III, to illustrate an article I wrote there about why being an impulse buyer is really a good thing.... Having a professional portrait taken of one's go-go boots is certainly an odd, yet satisfying experience.
Lately I have been wearing a pair of beaded hot pink Bollywood sandals nonstop, paired with the-little-nail-polish-that-could, a color called "South Beach" from VARNISH. Warning: if you click on that link you will be transported into a gunmetal-and-cherry, girl on girl-nail Imax-like experience. Do so at your own peril, and only if you got bandwidth out the here, baby. If you do, you can pick up some South Beach for a mere $7, secure in the knowledge that it goes on easy and lasts.
I expecially like pink eyeshadow. Pout's eyeslick in Swing looks like cake frosting, in a good way, and is just the thing when you want that frosty, Goldie Hawn-circa-Laugh In look.

I'm glad someone can work that Goldie-Hawn-circa-Laugh-In look - it sure won't be me, no matter how light my highlights go. (Yes, I am jealous.)

Also a fan of the pink, and I don't mean worn in an "ironic" way. Irony in fashion is way past gagworthy; in makeup, it's even worse.
