When I get into one of those "what am I going to look like at 60?" funks, I look at this picture of author Ilene Beckerman and smile. I particularly love the way she wears her hair--it's so stylish, and nothing you'd ever see on a younger woman. Isn't it so much more striking when a 60 year-old woman looks her age - and looks fantastic - than when she does backflips just to pull off looking like a particularly weary and unattractive 45 year-old?
What I love about the idea of creating an older persona for oneself is that our culture doesn't yet have a set of ingrained standards for what looks hot at 60 (or 70), so we get to invent our older selves completely.

Cheers to that- I know I'm already thinking about my older persona, and I'm only 22. I'm going to have a pink fauxhawk, because I figure it won't matter at all.
